Mid-level, full time position is responsible for maintaining GIS basemap information, producing complex GIS products and analysis, customizing data for integration with County software systems, managing GIS related projects and in coordination with the GIS Administrator direct activities of the GIS technical staff.  Participates in planning of GIS related programs, policies or objectives for own work group and county departments.


Prepares and executes workflows, geoprocessing models and automated routines using Python and ModelBuilder. Proficiency writing complex queries, joining and appending tables in MS SQL Server,  familiarity with multi-user versioned, distributed editing and replication within ArcGIS Server/ArcGIS SDE 10.x environment.  Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro 2.x with the ability to train County GIS users in the transition from ArcGIS Desktop to ArcGIS Pro.  Designs, develops and implements systems and databases for storing and accessing geospatial data.  Creates clear strategies and processes for the updating and editing of data that ensures accuracy and timeliness of data utilized by county departments.  Supports county departments in achieving objectives by creating and maintaining new data, configuring applications and supporting established applications.  Provides support for mapping or GIS component integration into county systems, applications and acquired software.  Maintains fluency in GIS software, professional practices and techniques.  Creates applications for use during foreseeable events as well as to be able to produce ad hoc applications for specific events.  This position is participates in countywide GIS related activities and duties for emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. 


Bachelor’s degree in any field or Associates degree in GIS/Cartography, Geography or related field.  (Bachelor’s Degree in GIS preferred) or equivalent professional work experience.  Four years of relevant professional experience in GIS. Strong verbal and written communication, time management and organizational skills.  Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.  Must possess the ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.  Experience with Esri ArcGIS Desktop 10.x software suite, ArcGIS Pro, Experience Builder, Collector, Survey123, ArcGIS Online platform interoperability, and Portal required. Strong MS Access/SQL skills including Python and Arcade scripting
