The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking entry- and/or mid-level Transportation Planners in multiple program areas. Below is information regarding each position.
Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordination – support the Sustainable Development program, specifically related to Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordination; this position offers an exciting opportunity for candidates to participate in a wide range of activities with stakeholders in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area related to bicycle/pedestrian planning and studies; multi-modal corridor studies; safety education and outreach; a regional pedestrian safety action plan, the regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) and stakeholder meetings; data collection, including the bicycle and pedestrian count program; detailed maps for various planning projects; geodatabase file maintenance of regional trails and bikeways; and spatial analysis and data editing
Transportation Technology and Innovation Program – support the Transportation Technology and Innovation Program (TTIP), which began as an automated vehicles program and has since broadened its scope to include work in a variety of related areas; one focus has been on utilizing connected vehicle data to improve roadway safety and operations

Due to the pandemic, the North Central Texas Council of Governments is currently permitting employees to work a hybrid schedule that consists of the equivalent of a minimum of three days per week in the NCTCOG offices in Arlington, Texas, and two days remotely from home within the Dallas-Fort Worth Region.

The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is a voluntary association of, by and for local governments, and was established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development. NCTCOG's purpose is to strengthen both the individual and collective power of local governments and to help them recognize regional opportunities, eliminate unnecessary duplication, and make joint decisions. Since 1974, NCTCOG has served as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for transportation in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area and is responsible for developing transportation plans and programs that address the complex needs of the rapidly growing area. The planning area for transportation includes the 12 counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Wise. NCTCOG also serves as a designated recipient for Federal Transit Administration funds.
