As our Planning Manager, you will represent the City and will be expected to perform daily work activities within the Development Planning Division as part of the overall department with minor supervision, supervise development planning staff and day-to-day operations, create performance plans and conduct annual evaluations, and conduct research and prepare special reports and studies as directed. In addition, you will be expected to manage the Development Review Committee process and work with developers and property owners to advise them on City development requirements and processes. You will act as a direct liaison with external applicants for processing development projects and other applications for the Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment, and City Council, review for compliance and provide approval of cases that typically only require staff-level approval (such as non-residential site plan packages, other similar reviews). You will be leading and managing strategic projects, focusing on City master plans and other policy-driven projects as assigned; develop project scopes and schedules; may lead up to 3 project scopes and timelines simultaneously. In addition, you will provide information to citizens, developers, and others on zoning and development application and review procedures, regulations and policies, prepare staff reports and makes public presentations of matters pending before the Zoning Board of Adjustment, Planning and Zoning Commission, and City Council, coordinate the recommendations of other departments, divisions and groups, both internal and external, in the review of development applications, long-range plans and special reports, participate in the hiring and managing of professional consultants utilized for long-range planning projects, including management of consultant performance, budget and schedule, and assist with the preparation of departmental publications including web-related information relating to area of responsibility as directed.
