The Planning Technician performs paraprofessional, technical planning work involving research, organization, and graphic presentation of zoning and planning data. This is accomplished by conducting development site plan reviews, participating in special land use and research projects, and answering technical questions, both general and specific questions, regarding planning information, zoning ordinance requirements, design review, land development regulations, rezoning, and variance requests, and providing land use and development information to the public. Other duties include conducting research, compiling data, preparing reports related to development activity and economic development, and providing administrative support to the Planning team.
