Under the administrative direction of the Chief Development Officer, the Assistant Director of Planning is part of the Development Services Division and is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and supervision of plans, policies, programs, and operations of  Planning employees and operations.  This role involves managing planning projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and leading activities regarding the development of plans, policies, programs, and operations designed to ensure quality development within the city,  and coordinating the  completion of special projects.  The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of municipal planning, zoning, subdivision developer negotiations, and technology-based tools that accommodate municipal planning functions.  Must process the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. Work involves significant community engagement and public involvement and will work with other City Departments on strategy and policy to ensure the City’s mission and core values are incorporated into operational activities and services.
