What will I be doing?

  • Lead subregional plans and studies that improve mobility, safety, multimodal connections, and economic development throughout the region, including, but not limited to mobility plans, corridor studies, and thoroughfare plans.
  • Support the development and execution of regional Complete Streets guidance and coordinate with sponsors throughout the region to develop local Complete Streets plans.
  • Organize public meetings and coordinate with sponsors to gain broad stakeholder and community input, and support for recommendations in subregional plans and studies.
  • Present project updates to the Transportation Policy Council (TPC), Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC), and TAC subcommittees on a periodic basis.

 

Key Qualifications

  • Experience in managing transportation planning studies, including developing scopes of work, contract negotiation, data analysis, community engagement, managing consultant teams, reviewing invoices and reports.
  • Team player, with an “all hands-on deck” attitude, who is passionate about doing whatever it takes to improve quality of life for people in the Houston-Galveston region.
  • Strong project management, communication, and presentation skills are crucial for success in this role.

 

Do you have… 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study.  
  • 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in urban, regional or transportation planning, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Thorough knowledge of transportation and land use planning, policies, regulations, and best management practices.
  • Experience in transportation planning.
  • Ability to plan and effectively manage complex, long-term projects.
