Full-time salaried professional position with competitive benefits in the City of Lockhart, Planning Department, under the direction of the Planning Director. Supporting or primary responsibility for providing information to the public and other City departments, administering and enforcing ordinances, reviewing site plans and subdivision plats, reviewing certificate for alteration applications, preparing staff reports and ordinance amendments, researching and writing grant proposals, participating in site inspections and evening meetings, and assisting with a wide range of special projects and routine departmental functions, including cross-training with other positions in the department. Provides support to the Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment, and/or historical Preservation Commission as assigned. Candidates for Senior Planner should have at least a bachelor’s degree in planning, geography, architecture, or closely related discipline, plus a minimum of five years of experience (two years of experience with a masters degree). AICP certification or candidate status is preferred. Candidates for Planner should have at least a bachelor’s degree in planning, geography, architecture, or closely related discipline, plus a minimum of two years experience. Excellent oral, written, and graphics communication skills, general knowledge of municipal planning functions and geographic information systems (ESRI ArcGIS), ability to attend evening commission and board meetings, and a valid Texas driver’s license, are required. Experience with Adobe, Google, and Microsoft applications is also required. Pay range of $58,510 - $87,776 for Senior Planner and $55,203 - $82,784 for Planner annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
