Live Oak is seeking summer interns!  We are excited to offer a summer internship opportunity designed to provide hands-on experience in municipal operations. This internship will allow students to work alongside professionals in a variety of city departments, gaining valuable insights into local government, public administration, and urban planning.

Job Description

As a Summer Intern, you will assist in various administrative tasks, research, data analysis, planning, policy review, and general office duties. You will gain exposure to city management functions and development services, participating in meaningful projects that support municipal operations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection and analysis for city projects.
  • Conduct research and verify information as assigned.
  • Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and documentation.
  • Assist in planning and executing development initiatives.
  • Perform general office duties, including filing and organizing documents.

Pay

This internship position offers a pay rate of $15 per hour (no benefits).

 

Expectations and Requirements

Education:

  • Must have completed an equivalent number of hours to be considered a senior in college level.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student or a recent graduate of an accredited university or college.
  • Fields of study preferred: Public Administration, Political Science, Public Affairs, Business, Urban Planning, or a related field.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational, communication, and research skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Availability:

  • Ability to commit to a part-time schedule of approximately 20 hours per week, between 8 AM - 5 PM, in person, during the summer months. (May to mid-August)

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to provide an unofficial transcript and resume.
  • Must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • A genuine interest in public service and local government operations.
  • Professionalism, punctuality, and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to interact effectively with the public, city staff, and elected officials.
  • Must pass a background check and drug test before employment.
