Under direct supervision of Transportation Planning Director with task supervision by the Senior Transportation Planner, the incumbent, provides technical assistance in developing, updating, and administering the MPO’s intermodal transportation planning activities.  These activities include preparation of the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), transportation improvement program (TIP), unified planning program and creating and updating processes that support the MTP, TIP and the UPWP.

General activities include public interaction, research for special studies, data collection/retrieval, analyses of technical data, computer analysis, transportation planning efforts, and coordination with the Corpus Christi MPO’s GIS Manager. This position may be called upon to assist with compiling the annual Corpus Christi MPO FHWA/FTA and TxDOT annual reports and conducting analysis on the performance measures required by the IIJA/BIL, and will be involved in many other aspects of the Corpus Christi MPO’s work program.

Grow your skills by assisting the team who concentrate on the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), Subregional Planning including small area, corridor and major thoroughfare planning, Bicycle and pedestrian Facilities Planning, Resiliency Planning and Freight Planning.

Assists in the preparation of the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and the Financial Plan for the proposed transportation improvements. Collects TIP information from member agencies and evaluates each project for its importance to the MPO.

Assists in the preparation of the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) for the transportation planning activities of the MPO.

Provides technical and administrative support to the MPO’s technical, policy and other committees, task forces and stakeholder groups.

Assist with transportation planning projects that improve mobility, safety, and multimodal connections throughout the region.

Coordinating with partner agencies, civic associations, and consultants on transportation projects.

Development of project scopes of work, budget, and timeline.

Work in project teams including internal and/or external team members.

Data analysis using tools such as excel, ArcGIS, and other programs.

Development and/or review of report content and project recommendations.
