As a Transportation Planner, you will be working in a fast-paced environment with other team members ensuring successful delivery of client projects. The ideal candidate should be detail oriented and have a strong understanding of transportation planning principles, public and stakeholder engagement experience, a proven track record in planning for TxDOT, and exceptional communication skills. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, analyzing, and optimizing transportation systems to improve mobility, safety, and efficiency across various transportation networks.
Responsibilities:
· Evaluate existing transportation infrastructure and recommend improvements based on analysis and industry best practices.
· Conduct feasibility studies and prepare planning reports for transportation projects or infrastructure improvements.
· Collaborate with clients, governmental agencies, and stakeholders to gather project requirements, provide recommendations, and ensure alignment with transportation policies and regulations.
· Prepare and present technical reports, project documentation, and presentations for stakeholders, including clients, local authorities, and regulatory agencies.
· Stay current on transportation trends, technologies, and regulatory changes that impact project planning and design.
· Collect, identify, and compile observational, spatial, operations, and transportation data from multiple matrices for projects, research, and surveys.
· Assist with the preparation of statewide plans, modal plans, corridor plans, and systems studies with a particular emphasis on safety, resiliency and multimodal accommodation.
· Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise data synthesis, demographics, patterns and trends, statistical analysis, and reporting.
· Prepare, coordinate and facilitate public involvement and consensus-building meetings in support of client project work and assisting with long-range planning efforts on small- to medium-sized projects.
· Prepare technical memos, meeting minutes, transmittals, presentations, and other written materials summarizing research with findings and conclusions.
· Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Qualifications:
· Education: Master’s degree in Transportation Planning/Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
· Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in transportation planning, with a demonstrated track record of successfully executing a variety of planning projects.
· American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or similar license/certification is highly desirable.
· Knowledge of applicable Regional/State/Federal regulatory framework is preferred.
· Experience in stakeholder and public engagement on transportation planning projects.
· Experience in software packages like GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Excel required.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines.
